 Mark your calendars for the exciting contemporary Fall Arts Festival 2007!  

Last year, contemporary Jackson galleries joined forces to develop a new aspect of the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival.  The goal is to promote the understanding that Jackson offers not only fine Western and wildlife art, but is also home to a burgeoning contemporary art scene. 

In 2007, contemporaryARTjacksonhole will take place during the first weekend of the Fall Arts Festival from Saturday, September 8th through Monday, September 10nth. Events include a keynote talk on Saturday night by art critic and reporter Jori Finkel. Monday evening, the festival will conclude with a panel discussion by artists selected from local galleries and a closing party.

                                     

 
Events

Saturday, September 8:

6:00: Cocktails and light supper at the Center for the Arts, including a selection of wine from the Jackson Hole Chamber. Tickets $140

7:30: Keynote talk by Jori Finkel, "Collecting Contemporary Art, Without Losing Your Wits" Tickets $22

 

Monday, September 10:

6:00-8:00: "What Does Contemporary Art Mean in Jackson Hole?"   Panel Discussion at the Center for the Arts, Center Theater

Moderator: Bob Moeller

About Jori Finkel:

An art critic and reporter based in Los Angeles, Jori Finkel covers contemporary art on the West Coast for The New York Times. Her articles also appear regularly in Art in America, Artnews, Town & Country, and Art + Auction magazine, where she was senior editor in New York from 1998 to 2004. She lectures widely on topics within contemporary art, the history of photography, and the art market. This year, she has curated a museum exhibition about role-playing in the art world (Identity Theft: Eleanor Antin, Lynn Hershman, Suzy Lake: 1972-78) running May 18 to August 11 at the Santa Monica Museum of Art.
